Psalms 90

BOOK 4

God’s Eternity and Man’s Transitoriness.

A Prayer of
Deut 33:1
Moses, the man of God.

1 Lord, You have been our
Or hiding place; some ancient mss read place of refuge
,
cdwelling place in all generations.
2Before dthe mountains were born
Or And
Or You fgave birth to the earth and the world,
Even gfrom everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

3You hturn man back into dust
And say, “Return, O children of men.”
4For ia thousand years in Your sight
Are like jyesterday when it passes by,
Or And
Or as a lwatch in the night.
5You mhave
Or flooded
swept them away like a flood, they
Lit become asleep
,
pfall asleep;
In the morning they are like qgrass which
Or passes away
sprouts anew.
6In the morning it sflourishes and
Or passes away
sprouts anew;
Toward evening it ufades and vwithers away.

7For we have been wconsumed by Your anger
And by Your wrath we have been
Or terrified
dismayed.
8You have yplaced our iniquities before You,
Our zsecret sins in the light of Your presence.
9For aaall our days have declined in Your fury;
We have finished our years like a
Or whisper
sigh.
10As for the days of our
Lit years
life,
Lit in them are
they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength, aeeighty years,
Yet their pride is but aflabor and sorrow;
For soon it is gone and we agfly away.
11Who
Or knows
understands the aipower of Your anger
And Your fury, according to the ajfear
Lit of You
that is due You?
12So alteach us to number our days,
That we may
Or gain, bring in
,
anpresent to You a heart of wisdom.

13Do aoreturn, O Lord; aphow long will it be?
And
Or repent in regard to
be arsorry for Your servants.
14O assatisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,
That we may atsing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 auMake us glad
Or as many days as
according to the days You have afflicted us,
And the awyears we have seen
Or trouble
evil.
16Let Your aywork appear to Your servants
And Your azmajesty
Or upon
to their children.
17Let the bbfavor of the Lord our God be upon us;
And
Or give permanence to
,
bdconfirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes,
Or give permanence to
confirm the work of our hands.
